Parliament awaits briefing on KPMG probe

Parliament's Standing Committee on Finance will on Tuesday be briefed by the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors on progress report with regard to investigations on KPMG and Deloitte.

The contract includes the Medical Aid Scheme for Members of Parliament.

Parliament's principal Officer had started to look for an alternative auditing firm to do its work.

Several senior KPMG executives including former CEO resigned after a probe by the international mother-body.

Relations between SARS and KPMG have been strained after the firm withdrew its Spy rogue unit report for which it was paid milllions of Rands.

Many companies are reconsidering their business relationships with the audit firm.
