The Presidency has refuted the DA's claims of a meeting between senior SABC staff and President Jacob Zuma's office.

DA spokesperson Phumzile van Damme says senior SABC staffers were reportedly summoned to the Union Buildings on Monday for a suspicious meeting.

She questioned the timing of the meeting saying it comes amid a delay of the SABC board appointment.

Presidential spokesperson Bongani Ngqulunga has dismissed these claims.

Ngqulunga says: "The allegations that President Jacob Zuma summoned the SABC team to the union buildings are a fabrication and are totally un-true."

He continues: "As the presidency communications team we had a short meeting with some SABC editors and journalists just to have a team engagements with journalists as we normally do with all journalists all the time."
