South Africans are continuing to rally behind Bafana Bafana despite the team's recent results. The players say with the kind of support they are receiving, they cannot afford to let the country down.
Tickets for Bafana Bafana's opening Group A match, next Saturday, are selling like hot cakes. Category one and two tickets are sold out for the opening match at the National Stadium. about 65 000 tickets have already been sold so far.
“We want to go all the way. There is no point in participating in the tournament if we do not have the confidence to go all the way. We believe in ourselves and the group. We want the nation to keep supporting us so we will make them proud,” says Bafana Bafana player, Dean Furman.
The players do not want to disappoint. “Finishing is our problem. We created more chances in the previous game but we could not score. That as well as defence are the areas that need attention,” says Bafana Bafana player, Reneilwe Letsholonyane.
The fans are in high spirits.
Meanwhile, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) Board has approved the CEO's report on the state of readiness. The only concern is poor ticket sales in Port Elizabeth and Rustenburg.
