Siphiwe Mngomezulu hopes his life story will influence other individuals to take control of their lives.

The Ethopian proverb, “He who learns, teaches” reigns true for street kid turned author, Siphiwe Mngomezulu.

His book: “From Nothing to Something,” paints a picture of Mngomezulu’s life.

His journey began at the tender age of five after the death of his parents, leaving him destitute.

Begging for each meal and sleeping in the streets of Johannesburg proved to be no mean feat, and Mngomezulu landed in an orphanage. Through the help of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, he was afforded the opportunity to study in the United States.

Mngomezulu says he realised he needed to use his experience to motivate young people.

“No matter what circumstances you are going through, you can actually come out of it,” adds Mngomezulu
