Written by a well-known writer Dana Snyman, the series was created originally as a theatre one-man show based on the life of Pottie Potgieter, a middle aged Afrikaans man who is stuck at home, while his wife is working as a nurse in Saudi Arabia to support the family. Pottie is trying to find a job. His mother in law has moved in with him trying to help his son, 17 year old Sebastiaan through matric. Pottie’s friend Tiny also lost his job and has not told his wife four months after being fired.
